Among the attendees were Prof. Shaojian Ma, President of HCU, Dr. Arnold E. Velasco, President of TSU, Dr. Agnes M. Macaraeg, Vice President of TSU, Dr. Agnes P. Ladia, Dean of the Graduate School at TSU, Prof. Liqiu Wei, Dean of the School of Foreign Studies of HCU, as well as 460 faculty members and students from both universities.

In the opening speech, Prof. Shaojian Ma, HCU President, emphasized that the widespread application of AI technology in language and literature has posed unprecedented challenges to traditional teaching models. These challenges encompass such areas as standardized language expression, the authenticity of historical events , virtualisation and amplification of real cases, as wells as changes in thinking habits and logical methodologies. The international academic exchange platform established by this seminar aims to foster deeper collaboration and exchanges among scholars from various countries within the realm of AI-driven language and literature teaching, thereby promoting innovation and development in this field. Dr. Arnold E. Velasco, President of TSU, remarked that this seminar marks a significant milestone for future in-depth cooperation between the two universities through academic exchanges. Subsequently, experts and scholars from Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Nepal, and China engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including the application of AI in language and literature teaching, innovative teaching methodologies, and novel pathways for nurturing talents.

On October 31, Hechi University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tarlac State University, and outlined plans to collaboratively host three international seminars. The successful conclusion of this first session of seminar, titled “Teaching Language and Literature in the Era of Artificial Intelligence,” signifies a substantial step forward in the partnership between the two universities, laying a solid foundation for future in-depth exchanges and collaborations. HCU will remain committed to strengthening collaboration and exchanges with TSU, striving to explore broader areas of cooperation and boost the ongoing advancement of our international exchange and educational globalization.(Author: Yuxia Li; Translator: Yuxia Li Photographer: Yao Wei; Proofreaders: Feng Li,Chengming Meng; Reviewers: Na Lin, Xi Zhou)
