The 4th Guangxi Calligraphy Competition for International Students, organized by Guangxi Higher Education Association’s Committee on the Management of International Students, hosted by the School of International Education of Yulin Normal University, with co-sponsorship from Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Group Co. Ltd., successfully concluded on November 1, 2024. The competition, themed Cultural Exchange and Harmony through Chinese Character Writing, aimed to promote the exquisite traditions of Chinese culture, advance the heritage and development of calligraphy skills, enhance international camaraderie, and encourage multicultural dialogue and growth. HCU sent two talented international students, Kyi Sin Thaw (Chinese name: Zhang Xinlan) and Noaman Omair (Chinese name: Cheng Li), to participate in the event.

The two international students fullly engaged themselves in the competition, bringing each Chinese character alive and showcasing the charm of Chinese calligraphy. They not only demonstrated their unique calligraphy skills but also conveyed their profound appreciation and affection for Chinese culture. In the final tally, Kyi Sin Thaw (Zhang Xinlan) secured the second prize in the ballpen calligraphy competition category , and Noaman Omair (Cheng Li) third prize.Their outstanding performances were a testament to their dedication and passion for the art of Chinese calligraphy.

After the competition, HCU team leader and international students were interviewed by Yulin Daily and Yulin Integrated Media. They all expressed that this competition provided an invaluable platform for international students to showcase their Chinese calligraphy talents. Through the medium of calligraphy, international students have forged a deeper connection with Chinese culture. We look forward to their future achievements, which will undoubtedly inject new vitality into promoting cultural exchanges between China and other countries.
