Hechi University Signs MOU with Shinawatra International University of Thailand , Launching a New Chapter in International Talent Cultivation and Sino-Thai Cultural Exchange

To deepen inter-institutional exchanges and broaden the pathways to internationalized education, a delegation of four led by Zhou Fei, President of Shinawatra University (SIU) of Thailand , visited our university on June 9, 2026. A cooperation meeting was successfully held in Conference Room 1507 at Zhiyuan Building, followed by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), officially launching a new chapter of strategic collaboration between the two university. The meeting was attended by our university's President Ma Shaojian, Vice President Qin Yongling, and heads of relevant departments and secondary schools.

During the meeting, President Ma Shaojian extended a warm welcome to President Zhou Fei and his delegation from Shinawatra University. He provided a detailed introduction to educational heritage and distinctive strengthsof Hechi University. President Ma pointed out that rooted in teacher education, Hechi University is deeply committed to elementary education and local development in Northwest Guangxi, having established three prominent cradless: "Northwest Guangxi's Cradle of Primary and Secondary School Educators, Cradle of Writers, and Cradle of Ethnic Sports Champions." Hechi University adheres to the philosophy of serving the local community, fostering open cooperation, and empowering both faculty and students. It vigorously promotes international exchange and learning opportunities for its staff and students, helping them broaden their global perspectives and enhance comprehensive competencies. Furthermore, Hechi University boasts distinctive strengths in physical education and the arts, with outstanding achievements in sports, dance, and fine arts, underpinned by a rich heritage of ethnic culture education. These attributes provide a solid foundation for cultural and professional exchanges between the two universities.

President Zhou Fei highly commended our university's distinctive educational characteristics and achievements, and proceeded to introduce the university-running orientation and development plans of Shinawatra University(SIU). He pointed out that SIU focuses on internationalization and application-oriented education, a strategic direction that closely aligns with SIU's educational philosophy and talent cultivation goals, offering broad prospects for collaboration. He expressed his hope that both institutions would build on their respective strengths to carry out multi-level, all-round practical cooperation, thereby boosting Sino-Thaiing In-Depth and Substantial Educational and Cultural Exchanges. 

During the meeting, the two universities engaged in in-depth communications on core areas such as talent cultivation, faculty and student exchanges, and joint research, reaching multiple consensuses. The Shinawatra University delegation proposed that the two universities conduct regular high-level visits, long-term and short-term faculty and student exchanges, joint educational initiatives, and collaborative master's and doctoral training programs. Both sides also suggested establishing a joint research exchange platform, facilitating scholar exchanges, collaborative research projects, and academic lectures to enhance the research capabilities of faculties at both universities. President Ma Shaojian emphasized that based on the strengths of ethnic culture and art disciplines of both universities, the two sides should tap into Chinese and Thai cultural resources, carry out regular exchanges between teachers and students, advance mutual cultural learning through disciplinary integration, and drive two-way development via talent mobility.

In the presence of all attendees, the presidents of the two universities formally signed the Memorandum of Understanding, exchanged commemorative gifts, and took group photos for memory. This signing marks the first formal partnership between the two institutions, representing a critical step forward in their international exchange and cooperation.
