Boost Teaching and Hone Competence via Research; Pass Down Cultural Heritage with Language as the Bridge — The Chinese Language Workshop for International Students and TCSOL Teaching Assistant Practicum Come to a Successful Close

The Chinese Study Workshop for International Students and the Teaching Assistant Practice Project for the 2024 Class, majoring in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages came to a successful conclusion on June 3, 2026. Co-hosted by the School of International Education and the School of Literature and Communication, the event was undertaken by the 2024 Class, majoring in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages.Launched on April 22, the one-month event consisted of six themed sessions covering practical Chinese language tutoring, after-class assignment guidance, paper-cutting, Chinese knot weaving, traditional Chinese dance, and Guangxi folk song performances. It built a practical platform for in-depth communication and mutual progress between Chinese and international students. Guided by the design philosophy of "integrating in-class and after-class learning, combining teaching with cultural experiences, and delivering two-way empowerment for Chinese and foreign participants", the workshop blurred the line between classroom learning and daily life. It transformed academic knowledge into hands-on teaching assistant practice, organically integrating language instruction with cultural experiences to form a learning community where both Chinese and international students act as core participants.

2026年6月3日,由国际教育学院和文学与传媒学院联合举办,2024级汉语国际教育专业承办的国际学生汉语研学工坊暨2024级汉语国际教育专业汉语作为第二语言助教实践课程圆满收官。本次活动自4月22日启动,历时一个多月,共举办六期主题活动,内容包含实用汉语教学、课后作业辅导、剪纸、编织中国结、中国舞蹈及广西山歌演唱等,为中外学生搭建起深度交流、共同成长的实践平台。活动秉持“课内课外贯通、教学文化融合、中外双向赋能”的设计理念,打破课堂与生活的界限,将专业课程知识转化为助教实践,有机融合语言教学与文化体验,打造中外学生互为主角的学习共同体。

An immersive language teaching model featuring "scenario-driven learning, task-based training and communicative output" was adopted throughout the Chinese teaching practice. Moving beyond rigid textbook-based learning, the workshop centered on practical output and real-life Chinese communication. Lessons were designed around daily scenarios including self-introduction, shopping, ordering food, asking for directions, taking public transport and travelling. Participants were divided into eight groups to complete the full teaching cycle of "scenario introduction – task practice – communicative output" through engaging interactive games. This approach took Chinese learning beyond textbooks and into real-life contexts, effectively improving international students’ practical Chinese communication skills.

在汉语教学实践中,构建了“场景驱动、任务贯通、交际生成”的沉浸式语言教学模式。打破传统枯燥的课本学习模式,以成果产出和汉语交际为核心,围绕自我介绍、购物、点餐、问路、乘坐交通工具、旅游等日常场景开展汉语教学。全班分为八个小组,在趣味互动游戏中完成“场景导入—任务操练—交际输出”的教学步骤,让汉语学习走出书本、融入生活,切实提升国际学生的汉语交际能力。


For cultural teaching practice, an immersive cultural research model centered on "cultural decoding, two-way empowerment and outcome delivery" has been established. Twenty-four students including Li Jing, Huang Xiaoyue, Huang Xinwei, Zhao Lanjie and Zhang Zhenyuan formed four Chinese-English bilingual groups for Chinese cultural teaching, guiding all participants to teach international students paper-cutting, Chinese knot weaving, traditional Chinese dance and Guangxi folk songs.The paper-cutting and Chinese knot group carried out activities following the procedure of "Chinese-English cultural interpretation, hands-on tutoring and work exhibition". They first explained cultural connotations in both languages, then provided one-on-one guidance, enabling international students to perceive oriental aesthetics through hands-on practice. The folk song and Chinese dance group adopted the main thread of "art appreciation, step-by-step instruction and group performance". Starting with program demonstrations, they taught lyrics line by line and dance moves section by section, and finally arranged for international students to take the stage and present their learning outcomes.

在文化教学实践中,构建了“文化解码、双向赋能、成果产出”的沉浸式文化研习模式。李婧、黄晓樾、黄欣维、招兰洁、张珍媛等24名同学组建了四个中英文双语中国文化教学小组,带领全班同学教国际学生学习剪纸、编织中国结、学习中国舞蹈和广西山歌。剪纸与中国结教学小组按照“中英文化讲解—实操教学—作品展示”的流程开展活动。先双语解读文化内涵,再开展一对一教学,让国际学生在动手实践中感悟东方美学;山歌与中国舞蹈教学小组则以“艺术鉴赏—分步教学—分组展演”为主线,从节目展示、逐句教唱到分段学舞,最终组织国际学生登台展示学习成果。这一模式打破了传统单向输出的文化教学,助力国际中文教育从“教语言”向“教文化、促表达、强体验”转型。




This model abandons the traditional one-way cultural indoctrination and facilitates the transformation of international Chinese language education from merely "language teaching" to "cultural instruction, expression cultivation and immersive experience". This teaching assistant practice serves as a vital extension of professional knowledge learning for the major of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. Students went through full-practice procedures including teaching design, classroom management, bilingual explanation and cross-cultural communication in real teaching scenarios, translating theoretical knowledge into practical capabilities. Moving forward, based on the trend of internationalized school-running, we will continue to deepen Sino-foreign linguistic and cultural exchanges, keep pace with the development of global Chinese language education, further expand practical talent cultivation models, and cultivate high-caliber applied professionals for international Chinese education.

本次助教实践是汉语国际教育专业课内知识落地的重要延伸。学生在真实教学场景中完成教学设计、课堂组织、双语讲解、跨文化沟通等全流程实操,将理论转化为能力。未来将立足国际化办学趋势,持续深耕中外语言文化交流领域,紧跟国际中文教育发展大势,不断拓展实践育人模式,为国际中文教育储备优质应用型人才。

Meanwhile, immersive Chinese learning and cultural experiences offered by this workshop helped international students improve their Chinese communication skills in authentic contexts and deepen their understanding and recognition of Chinese culture via hands-on activities. By taking part in featured cultural programs such as paper-cutting, Chinese knot crafting, folk singing and traditional dancing, international students shifted from passive "onlookers" to active "experiencers" and "cultural disseminators", gaining a stronger sense of belonging and cultural integration on campus. This activity marks a successful practice of our university’s "Study at He University" brand development.
