To promote open development and deepen practical collaboration with universities in ASEAN countries, President Ma Shaojian and Vice President He Weiguo recently led separate delegations on visits to higher education institutions in Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand. President Ma Shaojian led a two-day visit to Malaysia, during which the delegation visited INTI International University, New Era University College, and Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology. The team engaged in an in-depth exchange on the history, academic offerings, administrative frameworks, educational philosophies, and international collaboration efforts of each institution. Site visits were conducted to major campus facilities, including libraries, student service centers, and teaching spaces. President Ma introduced our university’s distinctive achievements in talent cultivation—recognized as the “cradle of primary and secondary school teachers in northwestern Guangxi,” the “cradle of writers,” and the “cradle of champions in ethnic arts and sports”—and highlighted our scientific and technological innovations supporting Hechi City’s sericulture and silk industry. In-depth discussions were held on potential collaborations in joint talent development, teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages , research cooperation, faculty and student exchanges, and co-development of academic resources, resulting in broad consensus and multiple cooperation intentions. The meetings were attended by Vice President Wu Kangwen of INTI International University; President Mo Shunzong and Vice President Zheng Shibi of New Era University College; and President Wu Zelin and Vice President Suraya Amirrudin of Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology. During the visit, President Ma also met with the representatives of our faculty member pursuing a doctorate at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. The delegation included leaders from the Office of International Affairs, the Department of Science and Technology, the School of Teacher Education, the School of Big Data and Computer Science, and the School of Chemistry and Bioengineering.

Vice President He Weiguo led a five-day visit to Vietnam and Thailand, during which the delegation visited Thuongmai University, Hanoi University, and its Confucius Institute, followed by Huachiew Chalermprakiet University, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Mahasarakham University, and its Confucius Institute. The visit yielded substantial progress in education cooperation, joint research, and faculty and student exchanges, with concrete steps taken to implement projects, expand collaboration areas, and deepen partnerships. Notably, during the visit to Mahasarakham University, President Prayook Srivilai warmly received the delegation, praised the outcomes of his recent visit to our university in September, and expressed strong support for continued cooperation. Both sides agreed to accelerate key collaborative initiatives and plan to sign several agreements, including Memorandum of Understanding, Agreement on Mechanized Sericulture Talent Cultivation, and Agreement on Co-establishing an International Joint Laboratory for the Development and Utilization of Sericulture and Silk Resources,aiming to set up a institutionalized, project-based, and platform-driven collaboration. At the respective institutions, Vice President Ha Van Su of Thuongmai University, Vice President Nguyen Van Trao of Hanoi University, President Uraipan Janvanichyanont of Huachiew Chalermprakiet University, and President Sommai Pivsa-Art of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi hosted the delegation. Vice President He also visited 20 Thai language majors from our university currently studying and interning at Huachiew Chalermprakiet University. Delegation members included representatives from the School of Literature and Communication, the School of Artificial Intelligence and Manufacturing, the School of Chemistry and Bioengineering, the School of Business, and the Office of International Affairs.

This series of visits have significantly enhanced mutual understanding and trust between our university and higher education institutions in Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand.
