Campus and Facilities
HCU is located in Yizhou, Guangxi, PRC, a city with a long history of over 2,100 years and a rich cultural legacy. With a history of over 70 years, Since its foundation in 1951, HCU has cultivated more than 100,000 talents for a variety of schools, governments and industries, etc..
HCU has two campuses: Longjiang Campus (old campus) and Jinshanhu Campus (new campus). The total campus covers an area of over 3000 hectares. HCU has over 900 teaching and administrative staff. There are over 17, 000 full-time students studying for either degrees or diplomas from 19 provinces of China. The library has a total floor area of 23,900 square meters, with a collection of over 1.048 million printed books and 1.92 million electronic books.
The University has complete living facilities, providing convenience for students. On campus, there are supermarkets, canteens, sports halls, athletic tracks, self-study rooms, and other amenities to meet the students’ needs for living, studying, and after-class activities. The university is adjacent to the city center, with convenient shopping and transportation options.
Campus Life
Cultural events are held every year including sports meeting, New Year’s Eve parties, Chinese Cultural Month, field trips etc. Additionally, international students have achieved outstanding results in calligraphy competitions, recitation competitions, and Chinese character dictation competitions in previous years.
International Student Programs
In 2013, the University began to recruit international students in Chinese Language & Culture program. In 2017, the first batch of international students majoring in Business English were recruited as undergraduates. In 2018, School of International Education was established and jointly operated with School of Foreign Studies. Electronic and Information Engineering major began enrolling international undergraduate students in 2019. In 2023, the undergraduate program Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages will be launched and start enrolling international undergraduate students. So far, a total of 255 international students have been admitted and educated.

Students who want to apply for a scholarship need to meet the following:
Ø Completion of at least one year of study at HCU for Bachelor’s Program
Ø GPA above 3.5
Ø No illegal activities involved
Ø Abide by Chinese laws and regulations
Ø Outstanding performance in and outside classes
Admission Requirements
Ø Non-Chinese citizens with good physical and mental health. For degree program, applicants are preferably aged 18-22. For non-degree program, applicants should be under 30 years old. The deadline for age calculation is August 31, 2023.
Ø Comply with Chinese laws and regulations, and respect Chinese social morality and customs.
Ø Have a high school diploma or a vocational diploma.
Ø In principle, those who apply for Business English major should have at least IELTS (5.0 and above), TOEFL (70 and above) or other equivalent English level.
Ø In Chinese Language & Culture program and undergraduate program Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, students with beginner level in Chinese are acceptable.
Admission Documents
Application Documents required
1. Application form for overseas candidates to study in HCU (scanned (with signature) and soft file). (see the attachment 1 at the bottom)
2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months. Applicants within China also need to provide copies of their visa page and page with latest entry stamp.
3. Proof of highest education level. Scanned version of the high school or junior college graduation certificate, as well as a notarized certificate in Chinese or English.
4. Transcript. High school or junior college transcripts, as well as notarized certificate in Chinese or English.
5. Foreigner Physical Examination Record Form (This form is made by the Chinese Health and Quarantine Department and must be filled out in English or Chinese). Applicants should strictly follow the items required in the “Foreigner Physical Examination Record” for examination. The “Foreigner’s Physical Examination Record”is invalid if there are missing items, no photos of the applicants are attached, or the photos are not stamped with a seal or signature from a doctor or hospital. The records are valid for only one year.(see the attachment 2 at the bottom)
6. Proof of language proficiency. IELTS, TOEFL and other certificates(for Business English major only ).
7. 2-inch photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months(in white background).
8. Original certificate of police clearance (non-criminal record) and notarized certificate in Chinese or English.
9. If you have studied at other schools in China, you must provide a “proof of enrollment” or “transfer certificate” from the previous school you attended.
10. Certificate of Deposit ($6000 and above) for a two-year period.
Note
Ø International students in all programs should prepare 1000-2000 RMB per month for personal living expenses outside the program cost.
Ø International students in all programs are assigned 4 students per dormitory room.
